Welcome to our new site!

Welcome to UConn Avery Point’s brand new website! Here you can find a whole bunch of cool things that will enrich your college experience here at Avery Point! I’m going to list all the cool features that we have included in our website so far!

First things first, our “Calendar of Events.” It is a Google Calendar that we tied directly into our website for your convenience. Therefore if you find an amazing event that you want to go to, you can automatically copy it into your own calendar on your phone (if you are using an Android Phone) to get notifications so you’ll never forget another event again!

Secondly, we have our news page. Which is what you are reading RIGHT now! You’ll never feel disconnected from the ASG again! We’ll post all of our important discussions, events, and proposals here for your enjoyment. Remember, all UConn Avery Point students pay a mandatory activities fee. So if you don’t want your money going to waste, make sure you are well versed in our affairs! Cause it’s open to anyone! You can also check out our meeting’s minutes to stay well versed in what UConn Avery Point’s Associated Student Government is up to!

Next we have our “Student Concern” form. This is the place to go to submit a complaint or violation that you have witnessed on campus. If you would like to have a follow up, you must leave your email address. However if you would like your complaint to stay anonymous simply leave the field blank. This is to make sure that the Student Government is truly fixing things around campus. Because at the end of the day,  WE WORK FOR YOU!

Another exciting feature is the “Election HQ” tab. Here we will include important news about possible candidates running for election or re-election. You can read all about that candidate so you can make an informed decision once it comes to Election Day on campus!

Meet our elected officials in the “ASG” officers tab. This includes pictures, biographies, and roles of the leaders of the Avery Point campus Associated Student Government! Check it out and get to know your elected officers making decisions around your campus!

Our final feature involves event proposals. Did you know that anyone can propose an event at UConn Avery Point? That’s right! It doesn’t matter if you are apart of the Student Government! So if you know a great up and coming artist or magician, fill out this form and we’ll see if we can get him here! Also, you can propose events out of state, such as Broadway trips or Six Flags adventures! If you’re creative and have a great idea for a student activity, then fill it out!

We hope you enjoy this site and it becomes a tool for your enjoyment here at Avery Point! If you have any questions feel free to e-mail me!

UConn Unity was a success!

IMG_0975UConn Unity staff would like to thank all of those who went to this year’s UConnUNITY and to those who made the trip to Storrs.

Saturday’s event was very productive and enjoyable. Attendees were to able to get to know each other and learn more about UConn through the lens of student leadership. We are all aware that we face a variety of challenges as leaders, but I would like to let you know that we are not alone in these challenges—attendants of this event saw on Saturday that there is a vibrant community of other student leaders ready to come to each other’s aid when needed.

UConn hopes that this event becomes a yearly tradition that fosters unity and awareness among UConn‘s campuses. And to the younger leaders who came to this year’s UConnUNITY, UConnUNITY staff asks that you continue this tradition and ensure the success of this event’s future editions. Finally, everyone should maintain the connections you have made on Saturday. It is important for all of us to stay connected throughout the year and beyond.
If you have other concerns that are pertinent to intercampus dialogue, regional campuses, leadership, the transition to Storrs or other pressing issues, feel free to send them along to uconnunity2015@gmail.com. I will be checking that e-mail inbox regularly throughout the year. You may also send them to my e-mail address.
And with that, I wish you all the best on your final exams and a restful holiday season!
